About the Business
After obtaining a degree at Sheffield University and a brief early career as a ceramic chemist, Alan joined the Triplex Glass company in Lancashire as a production manager before moving north to Cumbria in 1971 to work on automotive safety with Kangol Magnet where he became Managing Director in 1980.
When his company was acquired by AlliedSignal (now trading as Honeywell Inc) in the late 80s, Alan was promoted to VP and General Manager of the Group's entire automotive safety businesses in Europe and successfully controlled operations in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain along with a string of licensees in Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey.
When AlliedSignal decided to exit the automotive component industry in the mid 90s, Alan formed a management consultancy specialising in European executive recruitment, (Executive Search Plus Europe Ltd), initially as a JV with a Detroit-based company but latterly as a wholly owned entity.
